Throughout the Bible, especially in the New Testament, there are signs that we can look for that point to the rapture, and subsequently the tribulation and second coming of Christ.  As believers, I feel we should always be looking for Christ, but we must also walk that fine line of living life here.  We really have the best of both worlds.  We not only have the sure hope of eternal life, but we also have the promise of Christ while we are yet here on earth.  We know, beyond doubt, that God is real, that God provides, and that through Christ, all things are possible.  One thing that I believe is possible, is to know what “season” we are in when talking of the times, or to put it more plainly, where we are at in time concerning God’s plan for man.

Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away. But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only. But as the days of Noe were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. (Matthew 24:35-37 KJV)

There is not a person on earth that can say exactly when Christ will take the church home.  They cannot predict this based on calendars; they cannot get this from the Bible.  At least, the exact day and time cannot be known.  I believe we can understand when the “season” arrives.  And maybe, eventually, even down to the “month”, or even the “week”.  You see, Christ spoke of days and hours.  On a bigger scale there are weeks, months, seasons, and years.  There are a lot of things that point to the fact that we are well into the “season” when Christ will return.

And God looked upon the earth, and, behold, it was corrupt; for all flesh had corrupted his way upon the earth. And God said unto Noah, The end of all flesh is come before me; for the earth is filled with violence through them; and, behold, I will destroy them with the earth. Make thee an ark of gopher wood; rooms shalt thou make in the ark, and shalt pitch it within and without with pitch. And this is the fashion which thou shalt make it of: The length of the ark shall be three hundred cubits, the breadth of it fifty cubits, and the height of it thirty cubits. A window shalt thou make to the ark, and in a cubit shalt thou finish it above; and the door of the ark shalt thou set in the side thereof; with lower, second, and third stories shalt thou make it. And, behold, I, even I, do bring a flood of waters upon the earth, to destroy all flesh, wherein is the breath of life, from under heaven; and every thing that is in the earth shall die. But with thee will I establish my covenant; and thou shalt come into the ark, thou, and thy sons, and thy wife, and thy sons' wives with thee. (Genesis 6:12-18 KJV)

Most know the story of Noah quite well.  Most of us have heard the stork of the ark, and all the creatures, two by two into the ark, etc…  We often see the grace of God in this story, how God will save the righteous, and if you follow God, and remain obedient to His word, we can be saved.  We often overlook, however, the very reason there is need for God’s saving grace.  We are sinners from birth, and man in general is a cantankerous, ornery, sorry lot.  It is only by the blood of Christ that we can enter the next “ark”.  The next “ark” is Heaven.

Before God destroyed the earth by flood everyone was warned.  They were warned repeatedly not only by Noah, but possibly beginning with Adam, and following the Godly line through Seth, all the way down to Noah.  According to Josephus, there were two columns in the land of Siriad, one of brick, and one of stone.  At least one of these remained until the destruction in 70 A.D.  The columns warned of two destructions of the earth, one by water and one by fire.  This is in chapter 2, verse 3 in book one of “Antiquities of the Jews”.  Here is the text on that:

Now Adam, who was the first man, and made out of the earth, (for our discourse must now be about him,) after Abel was slain, and Cain fled away, on account of his murder, was solicitous for posterity, and had a vehement desire of children, he being two hundred and thirty years old; after which time he lived other seven hundred, and then died. He had indeed many other children, but Seth in particular. As for the rest, it would be tedious to name them; I will therefore only endeavor to give an account of those that proceeded from Seth. Now this Seth, when he was brought up, and came to those years in which he could discern what was good, became a virtuous man; and as he was himself of an excellent character, so did he leave children behind him who imitated his virtues. All these proved to be of good dispositions. They also inhabited the same country without dissensions, and in a happy condition, without any misfortunes falling upon them, till they died. They also were the inventors of that peculiar sort of wisdom which is concerned with the heavenly bodies, and their order. And that their inventions might not be lost before they were sufficiently known, upon Adam's prediction that the world was to be destroyed at one time by the force of fire, and at another time by the violence and quantity of water, they made two pillars, the one of brick, the other of stone: they inscribed their discoveries on them both, that in case the pillar of brick should be destroyed by the flood, the pillar of stone might remain, and exhibit those discoveries to mankind; and also inform them that there was another pillar of brick erected by them. Now this remains in the land of Siriad to this day.

Plenty of warning, yet the nature of man was to indulge in self, regardless of the consequences.  It is so much easier to worry about your feelings, your self pleasure, than to admit, and submit, to the idea and fact the there is a God, a true living God.  It is even harder to submit to the fact that God expects obedience, and will ultimately destroy that which does not honor Him.  But this is exactly what happened, and exactly what is going to happen.  Our time is fast approaching.  I believe a few things to be true.  I believe the year is here and the season is upon us.  Within the season there are months and weeks, and I fully believe we may very well be within the month, if not the week.

In the times of Noah he was almost certainly ridiculed for building a boat with no sign of rain, much less a flood.  There are Jewish traditions that say Noah and Methuselah went about preaching righteousness and were rebuffed.  Methuselah died, by some accounts, the same year as the flood.  He was taken home before he saw the destruction of the earth by water.  Noah, which means “rest”, was saved, along with his house.  Only the righteous was saved.  This same thing is upon us again.  Only the righteous will be saved.  The rest will suffer greatly, not only her upon earth for up to seven years, but for an eternity.  In fact, in Revelation 9:6 it says men will seek death and will not find it.  So the question remains, how do we know what season we are in?

And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years: (Genesis 1:14 KJV)

For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be earthquakes in divers places, and there shall be famines and troubles: these are the beginnings of sorrows. {sorrows: the word in the original importeth "the pains of a woman in travail"} (Mark 13:8 KJV)

The verse from Mark, to me at least, it very telling.  The word sorrow, in the original Greek, refers directly to birth pains.  As any woman, and most husbands, know, there are false birth pains, then there are the ones that are real.  They can also last for days, or merely hours.  The reason this verse is telling to me is the following verse:

And she being with child cried, travailing in birth, and pained to be delivered. (Revelation 12:2 KJV)

Really that one verse is hard to stand alone, and the entire passage runs the whole chapter.  It short the passage points to the birth and resurrection of Christ, and also to the salvation of Jews during the tribulation.  Really, it could be an entire book in itself.  What I take away from it is this though, once the things start happening that show the “beginnings of sorrows” we should know that the tribulation is very near.  That means the midnight cry is even closer.

And at midnight there was a cry made, Behold, the bridegroom cometh; go ye out to meet him. (Matthew 25:6 KJV)

The entire passage runs from verse 1 in chapter 25 through verse 12.  It would be good to read the entire passage, but in short, once the midnight cry is made, time is up.  The midnight cry is a cry made out by the wedding party, telling the bride to come, and go with her future husband.  The bride has to be ready to go, immediately.  The same goes for her wedding party.  The ones in this parable that were ready were able to go, those that were not were denied.

The New Testament is full of parables, and scripture, that points to how to recognize the birth pains, and also what happens to those that are still not ready, even though everything around them points to the times of the end.  Today, the signs are all around.  Still, somehow, people refuse to pay attention; they refuse to ensure their readiness for the bridegroom’s midnight cry.

But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, even to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased. (Daniel 12:4 KJV)

To me, this one verse, more than any other, is the “most sure sign”.  I know many will disagree, but follow with me.  Knowledge is increasing at a tremendous rate.  I have seen reports that say within a few years technical knowledge will double every 72 hours.  Right now, I believe it said we double about every two years.  There is a scientist that is trying to recreate something that never happened, the “Big Bang”.  Medical science is remarkable, with organ transplants and medicinal cures that only a few years ago seemed impossible.  The march forward in the secular industries is nothing short of remarkable.  The advance of knowledge in the spiritual world is equally impressive.

Each day, men and women of God are receiving revelations from God.  Each day we are learning more about the times of Christ, and before, through archeological and intellectual finds.  With each passing moment, the book of Revelation is becoming a clear picture.  Who could have envisioned 75 years ago a scenario in which the entire world could see famine at one time?  How, 75 years ago, could the entire globe come under control of one single district of commerce centered in the desert of the Middle East?

Simply put, the scripture of Revelation, and in part Daniel, can be seen now in very clear and certain terms.  We have a full understanding of how things could possibly happen.  And even beyond being able to see that clear picture, the shepherds of God’s flock, the ministers and pastors of this world, are telling people everyday to be ready in terms that are very clear.  There has always, since the days of Pentecost in the book of Acts, been the possibility of the return of Christ.  After all, God is God and can bring things about in the blink of an eye.  He could have returned Israel to statehood immediately after their destruction in 70 A.D. and returned then.

Before, when it was preached that God will soon offer that second judgment upon earth, it was true, because God is God.  Today, if possible, it is even more true, for all the signs are fulfilled, the scene is set.  Jerusalem is already split into the two “factions” that will remain.  You have the Muslims and Jews that control portions of the city.  They constantly are posturing for power and the stage is prepared for the seven years of peace spoke of in Daniel.  Muslims believe in treaties with non-Muslims for the purpose of regaining power and strength, and think it is completely acceptable and right to break that treaty once they are sufficiently strong, hence the things of the midpoint of the tribulation and the breaking of the treaty at the midpoint spoke of in Daniel 9:27.

And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate. (Daniel 9:27 KJV)

Also, Israel has groups that have been preparing the items for a new temple for years!  They have been looking for the red heifer needed for a sacrifice for a new temple for years.  Everything is set, ready for a glorious trip home.

The biggest question is this; are you ready for a glorious trip home?  God the father is ready to send His Son after His bride, the church.  He is ready to receive all who will accept Him.
