Abortion is a word that should not exist in relation to pregnancy. Look at the different ways Encarta Dictionary defines abortion:
1. Operation to end pregnancy: an operation or other intervention to end a pregnancy by removing an embryo or fetus from the womb 2. Miscarriage: a miscarriage 3. Cancellation: the ending of a flight or mission before it is completed 4. Offensive term: something so badly done or made that it is a complete failure
It seems to me that abortion is a word to desensitize us to what it really is, murder. You abort a flight, you abort vacation plans, but you do not abort a baby. Look at the last entry, something so badly made that it is offensive?? A baby made by God is not offensive. Period.
This is also supported scripturally throughout the bible.
Exodus 21:22 & 23 (KJV)
22. If men strive, and hurt a woman with child, so that her fruit depart from her, and yet no mischief follow: he shall be surely punished, according as the woman's husband will lay upon him; and he shall pay as the judges determine. 23. And if any mischief follow, then thou shalt give life for life. Jeremiah 1:5 (KJV)
Before I formed the in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and i ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.
Isaiah 49:1 (KJV)
Listen, O isles, unto me; and hearken, ye people, from far; The LORD hath called me from the womb; from the bowels of my mother hath he made mention of my name. Isaiah 49:5 (KJV) Listen, O isles, unto me; and hearken, ye people, from far; The LORD hath called me from the womb; from the bowels of my mother hath he made mention of my name. Luke 1:15 (KJV) For he shall be great in the sight of the Lord, and shall drink neither wine nor strong drink; and he shall be filled with the Holy Ghost, even from his mother's womb. Galatians 1:15 (KJV) But when it pleased God, who separated me from my mother's womb, and called me by his grace, Hebrews 13:8 (KJV) Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever. Jesus Christ never changes, or changes his mind. If he knew the Old Testament prophets before they were formed, he knows us before we are formed today. Every person is precious in God’s eyes. We are all the same. The sad part is this, we lose more unborn infants to infanticide every year than we have lost in war in the history of the United States. |
